What courses does WLC offer?

The Water Learning Centre currently offers the following courses:

  1. Integrated Water Resources Management
  2. Water-Health (under development)

What is the length/duration of a course?

Generally, one course is approximately 250 hours of lecture-equivalent time or one year in a conventional university setting. Note that the length quoted above does not include independent study/review time or the time needed for assignments, etc. Please consult with the respective course information provided on this site and with the appropriate Regional Centre to obtain course length/duration.

How much does a course cost?

The cost of the course is determined by the Regional Centres and will differ slightly across the Centres due to various factors (e.g. cost of administration, location and institutional policies). If you would like more information on the cost of a course, please contact the appropriate Regional Centre.

What do you obtain upon completion of a course?

Upon successful completion of the course, following the final examination, students are awarded a United Nations University Diploma in their respective course.

Do you offer a course on X?

We are constantly looking for opportunities to expand the Water Learning Centre’s course offering and will continually assess the suitability of adding more courses. Note that the process of adding a course is very time intensive and requires, among other things, seeking experts to provide content, compiling the course, reviewing and piloting.

What are the prerequisites required to take a course?

The general prerequisite is that the applicant hold a post-secondary degree that is related to the course that they intend to take and either possess or have a means of covering the costs of the course. For more information, please see the requirements page.

What kind of examinations are conducted and how are they administered?

The examinations are conducted at, and administered by, the Regional Centres and are done at the end of the course. The final examinations form a part of the second, final face-to-face component for students and allows individuals to interact with other students across the respective region.
